MLK Memorial Dedication Next Week

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial dedication will take place at 11 a.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at West Potomac Park in Washington, D.C. The dedication will follow a week long series of events inspired by the establishment of the memorial, including a public expo, prayer service, luncheons, and musical tributes.

“The King Memorial is intended to be personally transformative for visitors, building a sense of commitment to the promise of positive change and active citizenship.”  The dedication of this memorial promises to be a historic event, assembling world leaders, civil rights pioneers, citizens who remember segregation and those “leading the next generation closer to Dr. King’s dream.”

The Memorial officially opens to the public August 22 at 11am. Tickets and information can be found at dedicatethedream.org and visit mlkmemorial.org for more information.
