Coretta Scott King Memorial Donated to Sojourner-Douglass College

The Coretta Scott King Memorial Garden was donated to the Sojourner-Douglass College in Edgewater Sunday, July 24th.

The "First Lady of the Civil Rights Movement." was honored back in April at a ceremony of 200 guests at Sojourner-Douglass College where Dr. Bernice King, daughter of Coretta Scott King, spoke about her mother’s legacy and how wonderful of an idea the garden was.

Now, in full maturity, the memorial, sponsored by the Maryland Attorney General’s Office and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee, designed by Doug Richards of Homestead Gardens, features a planter with a fountain in the center and plaques with quotes from Coretta Scott King.
